The Podkarpackie is a special place on Earth. Special, because it was the frontier, which shaped its present image. The Podkarpackie province has always been located in the borderland. The rich history and centuries–old coexistence of different ethnic groups resulted in cultural qualities, incomparable with those in other regions of Poland, strengthened by the richness of the natural environment. Maybe this is why the Podkarpackie province is one the most attractive destinations for tourists from Poland and Europe. The jewels of the Podkarpackie tourism are certainly the Bieszczady Mountains, a European oasis of nature secondarily gone wild, concealing almost 500 years’ of material remains associated with the Boykos, the Poles and the Jews, who lived here. In addition, the Beskid Niski (the Low Beskid) has a lot to offer, especially the Higher Wisłok Valley, where the dominant ethnic group were once the Łemkowie (the Lemkos). The Pogórze Strzyżowsko–Dynowskie (the Strzyżów–Dynów Foothills) and the Pogórze Przemyskie (the Przemyśl Foothills) are famous for their superb landscape qualities. The northern part of the province: the Kotlina Sandomierska (the Sandomierz Basin) and its neighbor, the Roztocze, are surprisingly rich with relics of culture. In the Podkarpackie, everyone can find something interesting, because this “tourist lake of variety” is heaven for voyaging and traveling. Of course, there are places that are the real showcases of the province, and this is why they earned themselves the name of the major attractions.
