In northeastern part of the Podkarpackie, there is a fragment of the Roztocze Południowe (the South Roztocze) District, also called the Roztocze Wschodnie (the East Roztocze) or the Roztocze Rawskie. Only a small fragment of this district lies in the boundaries of Poland, forming the Południoworoztoczański Park Krajobrazowy (the South Roztocze Landscape Park). Almost all of it lies within the Podkarpackie Province, in the Lubaczów District. Here are the highest peaks of the Polish Roztocze: Długi Goraj (391.5 m above sea level) and Wielki Dział (390 m above sea level). Around 60% of the Roztocze Południowe area forests, dominated by the Dentario glandulosae–Fagetum wood complex, but the most valuable are the fir forests and the forests around Dziewięcierz, with large areas of juniper. The forests of Roztocze Wschodnie are natural habitats of lynx, wolf, weasel and ermine. In the landscape park, there are habitats of 14 species of endangered birds, amongst others little bittern, marsh harrier, black stork, black woodpecker, lesser spotted eagle.
